About me

I'm an active Wikipedia, open source enthusiast, Wikimedia affiliate leader, translator, writer and (hopefully) a future novelist. I made my first edits to Wikipedia sometime in 2006, back when I was in fifth grade, and became a regular contributor of the Arabic language version in 2009. I mainly work on extensively researched content: with a bit over sixty featured articles of my own work and about a 1,000 pages - although I was also an admin for a while. Since 2013, as a result of international travel, I became increasingly involved in offline Wikimedia activities (WLM, Education, etc.). I was the vice director of a regional conference in Amman in 2016, and, since 2017, became the Chief Coordinator of Wikimedia Levant. I'm lucky to have made it to four Wikimanias.

Outside the Movement, I have served as the Arabic Language Community Advocate for Khan Academy, Project Manager for Scientific Saudi and a Program Coordinator for the Jordan Open Source Association. I've also worked as a part-time writer for plenty of websites and magazines, including Al-Ghad Newspaper, Al-Kawn Magazine and the Arabic language versions of Popular Science and MIT Technology Review. I've also co-authored an Arabic version of the Observer's Handbook and wrote a freely licensed e-book called "حكاية ويكيبيديا" ('The Story of Wikipedia'). Currently, I'm pursuing a degree in English Language & Literature while struggling my way through German and French.

My work

I support the Core Strategy Team by conducting tasks such as minute taking, writing summaries, updating Meta pages and providing general assistance in the Information & Knowledge Management Team's operations. My work involves close interaction with the Strategy Working Groups, as I'll be regularly attending meetings, documenting and helping around.
